National Academy Review Panel Discussion
The National Academy of Arts and Letters had a roundtable discussion on seven shows in NYC, and my show at Steven Harvey Fine Art was one of them. The discussion was friday, March 7.
http://www.artcritical.com/2014/02/24/line-up-for-march-7/
I didn't attend, but I listened to the podcast. It was a very interesting discussion between Barry Schwabsky, Nora Griffin, Drew Lowenstein and Moderator David Cohen. Barry Schwabsky evidently hated the show so much he has decided that he no longer likes David Bowie because I listen to him, which I thought was pretty great. It was an excellent, thoughtful analysis of all six shows by all the panelists, and I am hoping to someday attend one of these discussions in person at the National Academy.
The podcast of the event is available for free at this link:

2 shows: Welcome to the Afterfuture at Steven Harvey Fine Art and Sump Pumped Sentiments at TSA -NYC and Brooklyn, NY
I have a (solo) show opening February 12 at Steven Harvey Fine Art Projects at 208 Forsyth Street (Lower East Side) in NYC. The opening reception is Saturday February 15th, from 4-6, and the show runs until March 16th. The show title (Welcome to the Afterfuture) is a reference to Mike Ladd's masterpiece of the same name. If you haven't listened to this record I recommend it. I will be doing a talk in the gallery on February 20th at 6:00 pm.
On February 21 Sump Pumped Sentiments will open at TSA (Tiger Strikes Asteroid Gallery) in Brooklyn, NY. Sump Pumped Sentiments is a group show curated by Matt Phillips, organized around the Potato Eaters painting by Vincent Van Gogh. Other artists in the show are Todd Bienvenu, Shara Hughes and Jason Mones. The opening is February 21 from 6-8 at TSA, 44 Stewart Avenue, #49 Brooklyn, NY.

Space Gallery show-Portland, Maine
http://space538.org/exhibit_details.php?id=118Funded by a generous grant from the Berkshire Taconic Artist's Resource Trust, Space Gallery presents 'Gideon Bok Wall Drawing/Covers,' a solo painting and drawing installation show. The show opens November 3 and will run until December 16. The show will be an installation of 188 record paintings in three arrangements, and a large ongoing perceptual wall drawing of Space Gallery.
Over the course of the show the drawing will progress and change according to what is happening in the space, as I will be drawing the people and objects in the gallery (which is also a music/performance venue.) There will be a public talk followed by a closing reception for the show on Friday, December 16 at 7:00 pm at the gallery. The wall drawing is temporary during the run of the show; it will continue to change from day to day and will be erased and painted over at the end of the show.
Space Gallery is a non-profit alternative music and arts venue located at 538 Congress St. in Portland, ME.
